Railroad Track Anvils and then some

Image
Railroad Tracks make great anvils and my DH, while out on one of his gold panning adventures (his new hobby this year), found a long piece of railroad track. Being the thoughtful man that he is, he dragged it back to the vehicle and brought it home. After running around everywhere, he found a place to cut it into pieces, which I then offered up for sale. They were grabbed very quickly. On a more recent outing, my DH found yet another piece which will be cut in the next week. I already have a list of interested parties if I can fit it into a USPS Flat Rate Box ($12.35 US) to ship. A young man dropped by the other day for an 8" piece and he was getting into black-smithing. I mentioned I had a 12" piece and he quickly upgraded. I can't wait to use mine but am stuck in the office doing taxes for the next week. GRRRR. Much prefer to be in my studio. Here are a few pictures. I found this one on Craigslist and my DH cleaned it up and filed the tip as it was file

Railroad track anvil

I found a great chunk of railroad track today. It will be perfect for an anvil but needs a little cleaning first.
