"My Heart is Open" Repoussé Heart Pendant

Image
"My Heart is Open" Repoussé Copper Heart Pendant The pendant is approximately 1 7/8" across by 1 1/8". I had an oddly cut piece of copper in my stash and started to play with it and this is what I came up with. I've added a twisted copper wire outlining the heart using silver solder.   It makes me think of open arms welcoming LOVE into our HEARTS .

Name Tag Challenge

I organize the Jewelry Junkies of the Fraser Valley group in Surrey, B.C. We all take classes to learn different techniques in the art of jewelry making.   The problem is that sometimes we finish the class and never do it again so the old "You Lose What You Don't Use" comes into effect. My challenge is to make a name tag and utilize a minimum of 3 techniques we've learned  during our jewelry making journey. The techniques I used are etching, sawing and stamping.  I'll solder a pin on back.

My Journey with Enameling

I'm in the process of learning how to apply enamel to metal. It's instant gratification when you get to see all the beautiful colors, but of course you have to make mistakes first before you get good. I used Egg Yellow transparent on a copper penny. I really like the spotted effect but I dropped it into the vermiculite too soon and it stuck to the enamel. " E N A M E L I N G   T I P  " The reason the vermiculite stuck to the bead/disc is because it is too hot. I've been told to move the disc/bead up the mandrel so it doesn't stick to the enamel on the stick and count to 5.  While counting, dip the mandrel tip into water, scrap off any enamel and slid the disc/bead whatever into the vermiculite.  I will try this next and post my results. Same thing happened here. I used a penny for the beadcap.  I annealed the penny, domed it, re-annealed and drilled a centre hole.  I sifted the enamel onto the disc. The head pin is also enameled with

Adventures in Enameling

Green with Envy I'm just learning how to torch fire enamel. I've been playing a little and I think it's going to be so much fun.   Bitter Green Enameled Bead Cap with Enameled Headpin Earrings

Copper for this ring was annealed, stamped & texturized..   It has to be pickled to remove all the fire scale.  Once a patina is added and it's tossed into the tumbler for a few hours to shine it all up, I'll post more pics to show the difference.
