Jewelry Artisan Show at the Wired Monk

Image
I had a Jewelry Craft Show at the Wired Monk in Cloverdale today.  Here's a picture of my display.  Needs a little fine tuning but not a bad start.  I used the beautiful display cases my DH made for me.

Faceted Crystal earrings with Enameled Hearts

Enameled Hearts Brown Torch Fired Enamel with a touch of Nutmeg Compliment Blue Faceted Crystal Beads. Gunmetal Ear-wires.

Personalized Gift

Personalized Necklace Initials are etched into copper then antiqued with a patina. Two crystals added to gunmetal chain.

Swarovski Cyrstal Byzantine Bracelet

Image
Swarovski Crystals with a Double Byzantine Weave I love the Byzantine Weave Bracelet and with the addition of Swarovski Crystals, it is just such a great combination.  I am using stainless steel and have to say I love it more than the aluminium as the weight is so nice.  Aluminium looks great but is very light weight. It's hard to photography the Swarovski Crystals so you have to trust me that they are BEAUTIFUL.

Adventures in Resin

Image
I organize a Meet Up group called the "Jewelry Junkies of the Fraser Valley" (JJFV) We meet once a month and one of the members usually teach a project. Here are a few pieces I made during the last meet up. We used a one part resin that is used for surf boards.

My DH was fishing today

Image
My DH brought home 3 crab and a 14 lb. salmon after a day fishing with friends. He called and asked that I put the pot of water on to boil. They were YUMMY.

Time to Re-Organize

Image
I hit a few good garage sales today.   There were lots of goodies out there and I found a few things for the studio to help get organized. This Ikea Cabinet was a great find and very good price. I was just discussing with my DH that I need more shelving above my work area.   Two matching adjustable lamps help shed new light on my work station.   I use natural day light bulbs to light the work area. This tray was a good find.  Each red tray is removable and I now have quick access to components I've made and are ready to be incorporated into one of my jewelry creations.   Having my little Buster boy keep me company is always nice.

Fold Form Bracelets

Image
FINALLY! SOME STUDIO TIME With my DH out fishing with his buddies, I thought it was a good excuse to get creative in the studio. My new Fretz Hammer was my weapon of choice today and to make a few Fold Form Bracelets. I like all the different textures on the bracelets and the possibilities are endless.   This bangle isn't fold form but my new Fretz Hammer created a lovely rain effect...

Just set up a little photo tent - home made job so not great but better than I had. Here's a picture of a necklace I made awhile back. Many different wire wrapped techniques used in the Big & Beautiful Necklace.

Swarovski Crystals in Copper Ring

Image
Swarovski Crystals Woven into Copper Ring I'm happy with how this ring turned out with the Swarovski Crystals woven into the copper wire.
Image
TURTLE BEZEL This didn't turn out as I had hoped but it is my first.   I will have to re think soldering the bezel to another piece of metal  and adding interesting techniques to help it stand out. A textured hammer was used to pattern the back side  The stone was pre-drilled so used a piece of copper tubing to attach a daisy spacer.   I used a leaf stamp on the wraps.   The bail is part of the bezel and looped and soldered to give it extra strength.

Recent Creations I've been dabbling in Chain Maille and am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy it. It's somewhat meditative and calming. Byzantine in the making. The top one I used Bright Aluminium with Square Pink Jump Rings and the bottom is Ice Black Aluminium with Square Pink Jump Rings A few of the lovely ladies at a recent Jewelry Junkies of the Fraser Valley meet up. This is called Garter Belt and is made with 100% Pure Copper and finished with a handmade closure. My Experimentation with swirling enamel using the immersion method. Enameling 101

Image
I'm taking an online e-course with Barbara Lewis who wrote the book "Painting with Fire". We've just finished our first week of the 3 week course and I've learned  the immersion technique for torch firing a variety of beads and bead caps.   Here are just a few samples of some of the beads I've done so far. Black Enamel base with a roll in Twilight Blue Copper Filigree Disc - this turned out beautiful with Robin's Egg Blue. I used my Acetylene Torch The bead cap is made from a penny and I love how rustic it looks. Something Old, Something Blue  Love the colors on these - Mapp Gas with Hot Head Torch. Hoping I will be able to reproduce as enameling doesn't always come out how you expect it. I used 3 different enamels on the end beads Experiment gone wrong Filigree beads - Need to use brighter colors to make a mixed color necklace
